Leg 5 - race 7 - day 20
Slept till 12.30 when I woke sounded pretty rough outside and wet. That's the one thing that's hard is getting wet all the time and clothes not drying. Yuk!
Only 11 days to go! Used my sleeping bag for the first time yesterday as temperature has dropped.
We have moved up to second place. Yippee but still a long way to go. Need to carry on working hard.
Everyday the skippers write a report which we can all read. It looks like a few are having problems with their spinnakers lmax and garmin have ripped theirs too. As I write this sophie and jane are busy sewing ours back together.
Went on deck at 3pm and the sun came out Carl helmed for a bit. We are currently in second place however the others are gaining on us as we can't fly our kite and due to the wind can't steer directly on the course we want to.
Bob the skipper went up the mast and replaced the spinnaker block. Off watch 7. Had dinner washed up chilled for a bit - mind you hard to sit down and relax boat when the is heeling over and the seats are wet! Went to bed at 11pm-3am.
Night shift was tiring, really dark as cloudy and no moonlight. Had 4 big waves go over me and soaked me.
Came off at 6.15 made porridge for everyone then went to bed good to get the wet clothes off
Miles covered 258 : speed 10.1-16.3
