Leg 5 - race 7 - day 24
Slept really well from 3am - 7am found it hard to wake up. Up on deck at 7am with a bowl of porridge. Bob the skipper was on deck no sign of Matt at first then he came on deck at 7.30 but clearly wanted to take a back seat.
It got light about 8.30am we tightened up the hallard on the mail sail and it broke so had to reattach with the topping lift. Finished shift at 11am had noodles for lunch and I wrote the crew diary. Had a hair wash and wash down then in bunk from 1-7pm
Got really excited as for a few seconds I had phone service so was going to text the kids and my mum but as quick as it came it went
Up on deck 7pm til 11pm shift went well put the Yankee 1 up. Bob was with us to start then asked Matt if he could take over. Matt said no not watch leader! Bob nodded at Carl and said keep eye out! It was a nice clear night lots of stars and the sea was calm quite nice of an upwind sail. Finished at 11 went onto standby watch. I baked some bread. Bed 3am til 6.30 ready for watch at 7am
