Dairy farm day two-
We started day two of our dairy farm weekend with rob and Amy by starting the morning off right with a breakfast ! Unfortunately we weren't woken up in the middle of the night to see the calf be born. For breakfast we ate A lot- cereal and milk- some delicious local farmed yogurt that we just love and fell in love with- and can get it at the English market- some brown bread which is addicting, with some strawberry jam and some plum jam, so delicious along with some fresh fruit and yummy fresh orange juice! The phone rang luckily at the end of breakfast and we all joked that it would be nick calling to say that the cow was calving and of course she was! It was like it was out of a movie where the wife was going to give birth and we all ran to the car grabbed our stuff and went! We were all so excited on the drive there it was hilarious. We got to nicks farm just in time as the calf had already gotten its head a little ways out! It was amazing and something I'll never forget- the baby calf was a girl! After we of course took a bunch of photos but nick was telling us a lot of great information about what goes into running his dairy farm with his cows all by himself! It was unbelievable that amount of work and little details go into working and dealing with cows as your livelihood! He is quite busy this time of year and has had a fee calves be born within the past couple days alone. We stayed in the barn stall for awhile playing with the calves and nicks daughter Sarah who showed us up all day- that little farm girl so used to everything we weren't, and so precious! Let's just say thank god we had our wellies on!!! (rain boots). We stayed there for the better part of the morning until nick had to get some work done on the farm- so we headed out to a great lookout over Bantry Bay- which was beyond gorgeous and the rain had just cleared for us to see. It was windy as he'll up there and almost knocked us all over, but it was funny to try and take some photos! We hoped back in the car and headed back to rob and Amy's for lunch- which again was delicious.. We are always eating here! For lunch we had all kinds of options for sandwiches, fruit, more brown bread which we ate a whole loaf of with jam, some potatoe salad which is the BEST here, and some few other yummy treats. Before we knew it it was time to go to Robs parents home, who also have cows and a few sheep. It was beautiful and overlooked Bantry bay- on the way there rob also pointed out to us where he proposed to Amy!! We fed the sheep and got to see where Rob had grown up which was quite beautiful- a kind of beauty a person can take for granted. There wasn't much to see as at nicks because it is on a smaller scale, but none the less it was a blast, and again thank God we wore our wellies! After robs parents home we then took a twenty minute ride back to Nicks where we were excited about because it was time to milk the cows! Nick has machines that do this but set aside a cow for us to try and milk- and we were all successful after a few tries!- since we have gotten here we have done everything and haven't turned down an opportunity to anything- so when rob said on the first day of being here if we would drink the milk right from a cow, we all said yes! Well today we wee held to that, and we all had cows milk squirted straight from the cow into our mouths!! It honestly was pretty good besides the fact that it was warm- not bad at all! And when we left Nicks he had given us a bottle of milk to have for tomorrow's breakfast! After a long day of excitement we came back to the house and relaxed for a little while with some tea by the fire- and Amy made spaghetti with meat sauce for us with some yummy leftover veg from the night before, it was delicious. But we couldn't stop there- us girls including Amy all then decided that we wee going to bake! We decided on banaife pie- so easy and so yummy, while we listened to Amy's wedding playlist which was a perfect mix of jack Johnson and easy listening- loved it! We ended our night with PS I love you- we really couldn't resist. It was a perfect day from start to finish once again, and I don't want to leave! I love it here too much and Amy and rob are more than welcoming and fun lovely people!! I could stay here and not go back to the city! This has been one of the best trips so far, and I have fallen more in love with Ireland and the people here more than ever! I am happy that we at least have the majority of the day here tomorrow as well, and I'm going to take in every second of it!!
What a blessed day-
Until next time,
Cheers!

Katie Orris Hi! I discovered your blog online. I am studying abroad in Cork next fall, and I am beyond excited. I was just wondering if you guys knew Amy and Rob personally or how you scheduled this trip. It sounded awesome, and I would be interested in doing something similar.
