Greg and Kerrie's travels
Sunday 03.07.2011 & Monday 04.07.2011 - we said our goodbyes to cousin Betty and Ciggy knowing that we would see them soon when they visit us in Australia in October.
The drive to London was hassle free as we beat the afternoon peak hour traffic by setting off early from Southampton. As we only had the 120 mile to travel we were in London by about 11.00am so we decided to head into the city and do some sightseeing.
Our first stop was London Bridge and the Tower of London. For lunch we enjoyed a relaxing coffee and sandwich beside the Thames and lucky for us the London Bridge was opened to allow a yacht to sail through. We then walked around the Tower of London before heading off to Leister Square where we parked the car in nearby China Town before spending the next few hours wandering the city and window shopping. We had an early tea at a steakhouse restaurant before we drove back to our hotel and had an early night.
In the morning we drove the 5 mile to Heathrow airport, dropped off the rental car and caught the shuttle bus to terminal 3 where we were departing from. We checked in our two huge suitcases and found one weighed 21 kgs and the other 20.9 kgs, only just over our limit of 20 kgs each. No problems!
Chris bid us farewell as we left for Istanbul and he awaited his flight to Calgary.
We are in the home straight of our four month holiday. Only Istanbul to come! Are we b*****ed?? Yes!
