It would take us 2 days to ride to Poland for our visit to Auschwitz and we had to ride through Slovakia. Zilina was chosen as the stopping spot.
The ride was not very inspiring! We found the part of Slovakia that we rode through to be highly industrialised with poor roads, heavy traffic and a smog haze that spoilt the horizon. It wasn't until we had almost reached our destination that the roads improved and the scenery was more to our liking.
We stayed in a hotel right on the town square in Zilina and used the afternoon to rest, drink beer and wander through the town.
This pretty town square was a pedestrian zone except when the local police cars came speeding through to deal with some local villains who decided to have a disagreement.
Our next destination is Poland - that makes 4 countries in three days.
