When we got to the hotel, we arranged for our tuk tuk driver to give us a tour later in the day. We had breakfast in the hotel, beans and cheese on toast which was surprisingly good. We then got into our room and had showers as we had hot water!!!!! It was a really hot shower which felt really nice, we had about 3 a day because it felt so good.
We met the tuk tuk driver who took us through the centre of Jaipur which was very busy, its called the pink city but it is more brown than pink. We went to a monkey temple overlooking the city, we didn't stay long because the baboons assumed everyone there had some food. We then went to a lake which had a floating palace which actually looked quite nice, on the way we went past a bunch of elephants all painted in colourful patterns, we went right up close to one which tried sticking its head into our tuk tuk.
We also went to a couple of shops on the way where I got measured for a shirt made up as it seemed quite cheap and like a cool thing to get tailored to go with my tailored suit. We then headed back and got a MacDonald's takeaway on the way home to eat in the hotel.
The following day we wanted a tuk tuk into town, there was about 5 tuk tuks outside the hotel which said 200 rupees, we said its too expensive and would rather walk, they said walk then, we walked about 10 metres and got another one which said 60.
We walked around the centre for a bit, seeing the main sights and looking in shops. We had a young boy come up to us, whilst texting on his touchscreen Samsung phone and asked us for ten rupees,we asked him why, and what for, then told him to get lost.
Later in the day we asked a couple of tuk tuks how much to get us back, they were all really expensive so decided to get a cycle Shaw. The guy was crazy, he seemed to know everyone in town or worse everyone knew who he was, he shouted at everyone going past, not angrily just saying hi, he also had no shoes which must have wrecked his feet. It took ages to get there, and when we got close he asked us where our hotel was, even though he said he knew it before we got on. We didn't know the way exactly as we came a slightly different way, we directed him but then we weren't sure where to go so we asked other people for directions, no one seemed to know until a guy in a car searched on his phone for us, he then really kindly drove to the hotel for us to follow which was really nice of him.
The shirt which got made up got dropped off at the hotel, I opened the bag to find it was done in a completely different material and pattern to what I had chosen, I tried it on and it was also too big and didn't fit properly, I ran downstairs to catch them but the b******s had already gone! We had an early night as we were up at about 4am.
