Leaving Pilzone campsite on Lake Iseo, sat nav tried to take me through an impossibly narrow alley and I was rescued by a local who helped me reverse and showed me another way out.
My destination was only 1.30hrs away I thought it would be a good idea to do a 3kms walk with waterfalls. It was an hour of bliss and an hour of sheer terror.
At first there were the cascading falls which were so cool and pleasant to cross over. However then there was a 4/5 meter perpendicular ladder which was impossible with Sacha. I did find another scrambly way up and carried on. Then there were several place which entailed hanging on chains and and putting feet on metal foot hold over deep pools. Sacha found her own way round but I was worried she might full
Then came the ultimate obstacle. A wet perpendicular rock face with a chain to help you up. Sach was willing but not able. And I was having trouble anyway with my painful arm which had been improving because of some tablets that I got from the chemist (Voltadvance). .
So now we had to retrace our steps over the previous obstacles again. I was relieved to get out of there.
The route to Lake Garda was mostly express way so fast but loads of lorries and some crazy driving v
Diesel was low. I managed to do 780 miles on a full tank. The only annoying thing was that in France I paid €132 and here it was €156 per litre.
The first campsite was closed for lunch for the next 3 hours and it was too hot to hang around. The next campsite I checked in but found that it was next to a noisy theme park with whistles, rumbles and bangs. Poor Sach. I asked for my money back.
Now have found a really lovely site in Bardolino. The name Europa Camp almost put me off but when i saw it was only 3* I thought I would give it a try. Well, it is really nice. People friendly and it has its own jetty and swimming area and I am less than 50mtrs from the waters edge.
Sach must have become overheated but was fine after swimming in the lake.
The temperature now at 10.30pm has dropped to 30 degrees!
