We have just returned from 5 days in the Amazon Rainforest which was pretty spectacular. We did of course have very heavy rain but it didn't stop us seeing things and walking. The camp was nice and the cook produced an amazing array of food , in particular his inventive ways with different varieties of bananas was very memorable. We had them for nearly every meal all cooked in different ways. Naturally we have seen a huge range of birds, notably lots of parrots and toucans and small brightly coloured birds of different kinds. We have inspected lots of insects and spiders and watched the various monkeys, sloths and anteaters. All in all it was magical and we really enjoyed the whole experience.
Tomorrow we will head towards Quitto and hopefully we will meet up with Jackie and Peter who hope to pick up their mended truck tomorrow. Happily they were able to join us in the jungle and today they have caught the bus back to Quitto.
It is hard to understand that we are nearly at the end of this journey , we look forward to seeing family and friends. The months have gone by very fast . Ecuador in particular is such a diverse and interesting country and has been really fascinating to explore. Perhaps we will get to the coast and then we really will have seen a huge range in 1 country.
