We have had the most memorable time over the last week. We have seen a vast array of birds, from the frigate bird with it's magnificent red throat that it puffs out like a balloon to attract the females, to the albatross which were sitting on their nests and then waddling over to the cliff to fly. We have seen hundreds of blue footed boobies, and thousands of iguanas, both land and marine These were huge! I could go on and on but we have the photos to bore you with when we get home. Hundreds of them!!
Our boat was great , just big enough for 20 people and 8 crew. The food was mouthwatering and we have eaten lots of fresh fruit and vegetables including sprouts! We visited one or two different islands every day and they were all so different, some very volcanic with lava others green and tropical. This morning we were in the mangroves and saw lots of sea turtles and sharks . Of course we have seen the huge Galapagos tortoises, a truly memorable sight . For all these we have been so close you could have reached out and touched them, even the birds do not fly away but watch you as you pass. Our guide was amazing and truly knowledgeable about every thing. The only slight problem was the rough seas, you could barely stand up at times! Fortunately most of the long hops were done at night and it was better lying down!
We have both really had a wonderful week and I would recommend to anyone thinking of going to do it! It is a unique experience.
