For me, Saturday 13th April was up there as one of the best days of the trip! I woke with a tight grip in my stomach and a bewildering sense of unease and it wasn't the drink from last night. I remembered.. The Nevis was today.. A 134m bungee within a canyon, the 3rd highest platform jump in the world with a free fall of 8 seconds. Uh oh! Sorry Mum! After a big breakfast, I, along with Nick, Liam and Dave, was ready for a 11.50a.m. bus to the Nevis. After a quiet ride to the bungee, we were all equipped for our jump the moment we got off the bus. We then went to the lookout point and proceeded to view people jumping.. It looked crazy and fuelled my excitement! We were all called up and we were put onto the gondola that takes you to the middle of the canyon to the jumping platform. The instructors then put even more stuff on you and we were just about ready. There was around 15 of us all that were prepped and it was heaviest first.. I was 4th to go. Nerves graduated until it was my go.. It came about very quickly. My name was called and I was sat in a chair where the bungee cord is attached to your feet and ankle area. As soon as that was on, I had a quick few snaps and then I hopped to the edge. With adrenalin rushing, I heard the words '3, 2, 1.. bungee!' Without hesitating, I went for it. The feeling of free fall, particularly on your own and when you physically have pushed yourself off, is indescribable.. Such a rush. Unbeatable feeling.. Didn't seem like 8 seconds though! I was then hoisted back up, which was kinda scary as you're just dangling upside down over a gorge, and when my feet touched the platform I was very relieved and very happy! Everyone loved it and I got some great snaps and video footage. We then headed back to QT, much more lively than the previous journey, sharing our experiences! Our appetite had built over the course of the day, by this time it was 3pm, and there was only one thing for it.. The world famous Fergburger, so big that someone once dislocated their jaw taking a bite. After a 20 min queue/wait, and getting Catherine from the hostel (who was over the moon I survived) we took our burgers to the beach and devoured it! Pure delight. That evening we chilled for a bit then headed out again all together. Nice one!
