After a very early start to the day in Wellington, we caught the 3hr ferry from the North to South Island to commence our southerly adventures! The travel through Marlborough sounds were pretty spectacular - we got some very decent snaps. We then travelled through Nelson and eventually got to Kaiteriteri after a long day of travelling! We checked into Kaiteri lodge, cooked our noodles, made friends with our new bus load of people and chilled out! Also, we checked out the beach which was beautiful but unfortunately we got a rare spot of rain that evening so that made us stay in. Can you believe it.. The next morning we had a wee lie in and then walked to Kaka Point which was a really nice, secluded beach and we spent most of the day there chillin'! When we got back we had a game of 18-hole mini golf and to my disgust I got beaten by Catherine! That makes it 1-1 if you include the Phuket game! And that was most of our second day. That evening the clocks went back so we got an extra hour to get our stuff ready for the bus. As we were prepared way too early we went on a 1 and a hour circuit walk around the area. The beaches and bays were the best I've ever seen.. The rock formations and the seclusion added to how wicked it was - very impressive. At about 12 we set off again to head to Westport; very much looking forward to our bonfire on the beach and the rest of the wild, west coast!
