For the past couple of nights we've been staying at the Bay of Islands which is otherwise known as the winterless north- so its pretty hot here! Today we did a day trip which was included in our kiwi pass to Cape Reinga- the most sacred place in New Zealand for Maori people. The bus journey there was pretty long but we got to see some ancient kauri trees which were absolutely enormous- some had been dug up after being perfectly preserved in swamps for 50,000 years! The best part of the day was definitely sand boarding down the biggest dune we have ever seen. It was so much fun! We also had some really great fish and chips from the nicest fish and chip shop possibly in the whole world. Off to bed now- we have an early start tomorrow to hopefully go and swim with some dolphins in the sea! :D
