We left Darwin, a beautiful city, a little bleary eyed after our late night at the Speedway, and travelled to Litchfield National Park. We were very lucky to snap up the last site at Wangi Falls camp ground where we spent the rest of the afternoon swimming at Wangi Falls, just a short walk from the van. The next day we slept in and had a very relaxing morning reading while the boys played around searching for lizards. After another swim and lunch we then set off in the car to visit some of the other places of interest that are close by, including an old tin mine, Tolmer Falls lookout and Florence Falls, which were very pretty. The following day we spent exploring, driving south down the west side of the National Park by 4WD track. We visited an old homestead and tin mine and walked into another stunning waterfall, Sandy Creek. We then had a few challenging, but exciting, water crossings and an interesting drive, through ever-changing 'bush'. We were able to see plains full of magnetic termite mounds which are built to point North/South so their flat walls face east and west and one side is always in shade so they maintain a constant temperature. They are more long and narrow compared to others that are round and tall. That night we tried out a pre-made fresh pizza from Woolies on the Weber and it worked a treat! It was delicious too. Also, Lachie helped pull out Will's 2nd tooth! Next morning we accidentally slept in so decided to stay an extra day. We spent it swimming, reading and catching up on 'schoolwork'. Today we are heading to Katherine for a night to restock food, water and fuel and then head across the Victoria Hwy towards WA.
