We left Litchfield NP and stayed one night at Katherine to restock then headed west on the Victoria hwy, following the beautiful Victoria River. We were actually a little surprised at the beauty of the landscape; dark red escarpments and a beautiful wide, winding river. As we came into Timber Creek to camp for the night we were all extremely excited to see out first Boab trees! After setting up at Big Horse creek campground we went walking to have a look at and take some photos of some glorious and enormous boabs. At sunset we went down to the boat ramp for a spot of fishing, but unfortunately no fish again! The next day we kept heading west and stopped off at Zebra Rock mine and campground. The boys were excited to be able to head down into the dry creek bed and find zebra rock to polish up with sandpaper. I actually found it very therapeutic and enjoyed it too. We bought some more very stripy ones from the mine to polish up in the next few weeks when we have some time.
