Wow! What a spot! We were reminded again that sometimes the most simple and free things can be the most perfect. Longreach waterhole (a free camp) is like a long wide freshwater river and a haven for bird life and water creatures. It was so much like summer (35 degrees) and felt like home (Glenbawn) that we had a very special day. We spent the day relaxing, doing puzzles, playing games, swimming, playing in the water and watching the multitude of different types of birds. Just after breakie a flock of hundreds of pelicans and shags came flying up the waterhole to spend the day! I have never seen so many in my life. Also, another special treat was to discover a pair of Brolgas that lived across on the opposite shore, so we were able to watch them for the day. The boys had great fun finding mussels, snails, frogs and fish. After a stunning sunset we had dinner and marshmallows round a fire and Ben came across a disgusting cane toad! After putting the kids to bed Ben and I sat out around the campfire and watched the stars and fell asleep in our chairs! The night was so warm we could have stayed there!
