Day 41: Brekky done, we pack up and head to Katherine. We buy a few things from Woolies and Craig makes a trip to the Information Centre.
We decide to stay at a cheaper accommodation option in town, rather than he pricey resort-style accommodation at Katherine Gorge. And it's worth it...$29 for five of us!
After we setup, we have lunch (the boys of course check out the pool with a quick swim) and then head for the gorge. We are booked to do part of the 8.2km walk by boat...and thank goodness...it's a big walk.
We get to enjoy part of the tour commentary whilst on board, and then we disembark and walk 100m up to a waterhole for a swim. Fortunately the salties can't climb rocks and so they have decided to stay in the Katherine River (however not in the traps we notice!).
After a swim, we walk (scramble in some parts) the remaining 2.6kms. I must mention that Riley does such a great job doing these walks...he is very proud that he doesn't whine, so he told us today.
We have been fortunate, as as of tomorrow the gorge is mostly closed due to some much needed feral animal culling to be done in the park.
It's been another good day and some much needed energy burning has been achieved by the boys.
