Day 48: Twenty-five kms of dirt gets us into the famous Litchfield NP. A massive NP with lots of swimming holes and waterfalls...and we are not disappointed.
Our first stop is Wangi Falls...beautiful! But being Saturday and being so close to Darwin, it.is.packed! Fortunately, most people are at the shoreline, so we all swim out to the waterfall and enjoy the clear waters of this beautiful place.
We watch a couple of blokes jump from a high rock, and Darcy and I decide that we too can do that. But first we had to scale up a steep wall of rock...and it was not lady-like or graceful...but I did manage.
Darcy jumps with no fear of course, but it takes me a little while to find the courage. But I take the plunge...woohoo!
We move on to the the next place, Tolmer Falls, and it's another specky place. However this waterhole is getting rehabilitated, so Darcy, Riley and I do the 1.2km walk following the creek back to the carpark.
It is now stinking hot. We head to the Lost City, down a 4WD only track, and spend time wandering through weathered sandstone blocks, that do look like a lost city.
Finally we get back to some water we can immerse ourselves in, at Florence Falls. We have lunch first, beside the creek that flows to the massive falls, and whilst there, Harry and Darcy catch a water monitor.
We pack up lunch and walk the 165 stairs down, down, down to the swimming hole at the bottom of the falls.
Another great spot. Clear water, surrounded by massive rock walls. We get to swim behind the falls, but a pair of goggles would have been handy for the massive amounts of spray.
The boys find a rock to jump off and we spend time enjoying this pristine place.
We walk the 950m scenic walk along the creek back to the car, and head to our last spot, Buley Rockhole.
Well, another special place. A succession of pools, with the same beautiful clear water...nature at its best.
We spend the rest of the afternoon here, and the boys love it! They find the top pool is the deepest, and they spend the whole time bombing. It's another great spot!
Another beautiful day in paradise...
