Day 5: After a lovely pancake brekky (thanks Harry), we parked the van at our Underground B& B, and headed off to see Tom's Working Opal Mine. Firstly, what a relief from the flies! Day 4: Coober Pedy...what an interesting place! Not a blade of grass, just red dirt as far as the eye can see. And piles of dirt where all the Opal mining goes on. Wow. Cannot get my head around why anyone would live here?! It's so desolate. However, as someone passing through, I find it fascinating. Houses underground, cafe's and restaurants underground. Motels...UNDERGROUND! And a town surrounded by mounds of dirt, everywhere you look...north, south, east and...

Day 4: After a morning of catching Geckos, we headed off to Coober Pedy. And it was very obvious we were close when we started to see little piles of dirt everywhere! A sight to see...a town built on Opal and surrounded by dirt piles. Unreal. We are staying here in luxury (there is a swimming pool!) for 2 nights. F x

Day 3: For those in the city...you'll never know the sound of silence, and I mean deathly quiet, until you stay overnight in NSW's outback, in the middle of nowhere! Amazing!!!
