Day 12: We left Alice after 2 nights of downtime, and headed for the West MacDonnell Ranges.
Fact: these ranges have been nominated for World Heritage status due to their biodiversity and geological significance!
Our first stop along the ranges was the Standley Chasm. A great short walk following the creek, led us to 80m high walls, about six foot apart...awesome! We then did the lookout walk which gave us the most amazing view back along the ranges. It is truly a sight to see.
Our second stop was at Ellery Big Hole, where we had lunch, then had an awesome swim in the natural waterhole. It was freezing!
We moved on to Ormiston Gorge, where the boys enjoyed another swim. As time was getting on, we decided to do the Ghost Gum Lookout Walk the following day and move on to our camp for the night, Glen Helen Resort.
This camp was set to the backdrop of THE most amazing red cliff faces...and as it was sunset, they were incredible in their colour and just their sheer presence!
Everyone is tired after all the walking and swimming, so it takes no time to eat and hit the hay. Zzzzzzzz...
