Day 40: Sadly we leave Kununurra and head for a rest area west of Katherine.
We have loved Kununurra and will miss it a lot. The idea of living in a caravan park, on a lake in a small town like Kununurra has a lot of appeal.
However, the rest of our travels call for our attention, so we head off. We lose 1.5hrs at the WA/NT border but we press on.
It is a beautiful day for traveling and as the first time showed, the scenery is stunning. Some of the prettiest of the trip.
We get to within 30kms of Katherine and stop at a rest area that isn't overtaken by grey nomads. This is because there are no toilets!
Just as a side: it puzzles me why the nomads need toilets, when so many of them have full ensuites in their caravans?! Just a question...
Anyhow, we are not perturbed and we set up camp, collect firewood and have a great night under the watchful eyes of the stars and a full moon.
The temperature has dropped considerably, and we all need our covers on tonight!

Betty Ogilvie Hi Fiona, Craig,Harry,Darcy and Riley. Mum gave me your 'blog' address so that I too could read of your adventures. What a marvellous opportunity for the 3 boys to be able to travel and see so much of outback Australia.. I am part5icaruly interested in the Kimberleys as this was part of the trip we had with Mum and Dad and ?? other travellers in 2005. One of your photos is exactly the same as one I took. Keep well, happy travelling. Do you blog every day? I would love to follow the rest of your journeys. Take care. Love, Betty (Ogilvie) I'm too old for mathematics!
Fiona Hi Betty ogilvie. Please don't be offended, but you have us stumped as to how we know each other. Could you shed some light for us. Thanks for enjoying the blog! Cheers Fiona, Craig and boys x
