Day 304 (Saturday 4th October 08)
A bit of a disturbed night! At about 12:30pm we heard a knocking on the van window. Mark looked thought the curtains and saw a man that we thought would ask us to move on so opened up the door. It turned out that it was a drunk bloke called Micheal, as we found out. He said he just wanted to see if we had a cigarette, which we didn't. So instead he just wanted a chat putting off going home after a heavy night. He seemed an alright guy but getting rid of him took quite a while! Finally did but took a while to get back to sleep. Once we were up in the morning went round the headland again for a walk. Chilled out for a while before heading up to the main street to see the Hot Rod Shine and Show. Parked and had a wander around a few of the shops as only a few of the Hot Rods were already parked up. At around 10am all the Hot Rods started to arrive. Watched them all as they revved their engines and parked up, quite a sight. Hundreds of Hot Rods filled the street, it was amazing to see them all. A very hot day so after having a look around the Hot Rods from one end of the massive line to the other went back to the Hoki Poki. Stopped at the Shopping Mall before leaving Nambucca to buy a couple of steaks for tonight on the BBQ as a treat. Onto Kempsey and found a campervan park to stay for the night. Cooked some lunch, then played some cards while we charged up some things. Chilled out for the afternoon. In the evening cooked up our steaks we had treated ourselves to and enjoyed our bottle of red wine we had bought at Timbertown. After we had put everything back in Hoki Poki suddenly realised that we didn't have our rechargeable batteries. Looked everywhere in Hoki Poki but couldn't find them anywhere, went to check back where we had plugged them in but they weren't still there. Went and asked the owner if she had picked them up while cleaning the disgusting BBQ. She had noticed them while cleaning but hadn't taken them and had only seen one other couple up in the kitchen other than us. She went and asked them but the swore no knowledge of it so couldn't really doing anything about it.
