Day 302 (Thursday 2nd October 08)

Once we were up went in search of some beach showers. Found some cold showers in the toilet block at one of the beaches. As it was still early decided it was a bit too early for such a cold shower so read our books and then went for a walk along the cliffs and beaches. Back to use the public facilities for a freezing cold shower! Once we were all sorted went for a quick wander around the shops and then started making our way up north again for the swimming with the dolphin tomorrow. Stopped at Scotts Head on the way for a quick look around and ended up in Nambucca. Mark read his book and Em managed to slowly start some study by the river. As we were just about to start cooking a nice couple stopped for a chat as they were walking their dogs. Had a good chat about travelling as they had been all over the world. A lot more places than we have been! However making us very jealous listening to their stories. They were very kind and offered us to go back to their house for a shower but we said thanks but we have had one today. We said we might see them on Saturday at the Hot Rods Shine and Show. Cooked up our food and ended up staying by the river for the night along with another couple of campervans.

Day 303 (Friday 3rd October 08)

After we had some breakfast filled up the water from the taps where we were. Drove out to the end of the headland and went for a walk. Then made our way back up to Coffs Harbour. Arrived at about 8:30am and didn't need to be at The Pet Porpoise Pool until 12:30pm so went and backed up in one of the car parks in the shade as it was already very hot. Pretty much as soon as we got there a german guy came over for a chat. He is backpacking too and was saying how his friends were waiting for a tow truck there also as their 4x4 that they had bought for $5,000 6 days ago had broken down. They thought that the engine was dead so sounded like they have probably lost out on a lot of money! That's why we rented! Soon after the tow truck turned up and we watched their 4x4 get towed away. Chilled out for a bit then put some suncream on early as we had to have put this on at least 2 hours before swimming with the dolphins. Had some lunch and went to The Pet Porpoise Pool. Checked the temperature of the water and following their advice decided to get some wetsuits so popped down the road to hire a couple. Back to The Pet Porpoise Pool and had a look around until it was our time to swim. After our briefing got into the pool with the trainer and 3 other people. Very interesting 45 minutes learning about the dolphins and getting to play and watch them. There was a very weird woman who kept saying Yum all the time. She seemed like she was on drugs and was an earth child that didn't wash as you could smell her a mile off! Had a very good time with the dolphins and a chat with the trainer afterwards. Dropped off the wetsuits and then back into The Pet Porpoise Pool to have another look around, then Seal and Dolphin kisses and watch the show. Very good day. Drove back to Nambucca for the night. Cooked up something to eat and then went back to the same place we had the night before to sleep.
