Day 300 (Tuesday 30th September 08)

Woke up to find someone else had pulled up in the area we were sleeping and set up their tent. Started to rain and was still very early so we read our books for a while before we headed along the highway to The Honey Place. Nice little place showing the bees making the honey and then lots of honey to try! Bought some honeycomb and then we were on our way again. Noticed we were out of petrol and hoped somehow that we would make it to a petrol station in Nambucca Heads as it didn't look as if there were going to be any on the way! You think we would have learnt by now but somehow luckily made it there! Looked around and parked up by the river. Went for a walk along the river and to the tourist information. Back to the Hoki Poki and parked up in the town to have a look at some of the Hot Rod cars as there were lots around. Think there is probably some sort of race or meet going on for them this weekend. Again heading south noticed the sign for The Pub With No Beer. Decided to go and have a look as we had picked up a leaflet for this earlier. It was about a 30km drive out into the country and the village only had a population of 50. As we were nearly there noticed something in the road that looked like a palm leaf. However as Em drove over it we realised it was a big snake! It jumped up behind Hoki Poki. We would have stopped but it would have probably killed us! Carried on and had some very good pub food and good local cold beer that had been brewed at this place. Em feeling bad about running the snake over but we think it must have survived as when we went back along the road it wasn't there anymore. Headed onto Kempsey for the night. Read our books for a while by the river, popped to the shops and didn't need to bother with any food as we were still full from lunch.
