HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
I welcomed in the New Year in by viewing the spectacular sight of the fireworks at Sydney Harbour Bridge.
This is something I have wanted to do for years and wasn't disappointed in the slightest. The pyrotechnics display was unbelievable with previous never to be seen effects.
Leanne & I managed to get ourselves into an enclosure at the Rocks right near the Bridge which also had a wonderful view of the Opera House. It was really amazing and the atmosphere was great. We had a wonderful spot to absorb the ambience and enjoy the countdown to the New Year.
After the spectacular sight we headed to the Rocks for a few drinks and enjoy the party vibe over there. Unfortunately I couldn't party all night as ever since my birthday celebrations I'd been fighting off am awful fever that had progressively got worse over the past few days.
But thankfully this morning when I woke I started the New Year feeling tons better and bursting with energy. It did feel strange as like Christmas I began the New Year with many firsts. It was the first year in ages I woke up on my own not being surrounded by my lovable group of mess heads; the first year I haven't welcomed in with a proper stomp; and the first year I felt healthier than I had the previous day… hmmm… I see a pattern here:o)
And I got to make the most amazing phone call today. (After my call home Christmas morning Vodafone UK has been down over here so I wasn't able to call anyone else over the festive season and my birthday, this affected Vodafone AU so people weren't receiving my texts during this time… grrrr!!!)
For a few hours the masts were put back up and I was able to call Mas & Stash's house and join in with the English countdown at their party. It was great getting a chance to chat to everyone and catch up with all the news back at home. But after two hours the system went down again and I couldn't call back. Luckily I'd managed to chat to nearly everyone and find out all their wonderful exciting news. Made my New Year, love you guys, miss you all heaps!
Afterwards I enjoyed the beautiful weather by taking a walk in Centennial Park, exploring all the different areas of the parklands including swamps, Victorian duck ponds and rose gardens. It was a lovely way to start the year.
