...Spontaneous fireworks at Opera House. Centennial Park. Sydney Shop...
I have just seen the most amazing pyrotechnics display at the Opera House all because I've taken a whole new random spontaneous approach to my life. One of the reasons I came travelling was to get away from the old organised me and it seems to be having its benefits.
The whole weekend has been a bit ad hoc with a chain of random events all leading up to this evening.
I'd only met Nicki last night when I'd gone for a spontaneous drink with a few friends. We'd all had a nice night drinking but as she was heading up the coast tomorrow I didn't think I'd catch up with her in Sydney again until I went on a random wander to Centennial Park today and bumped into her and Max who were heading in the same direction.
We had a very bizarre little picnic in the grounds of this lovely parkland and enjoyed the gorgeous sunshine as we wandered through palm lined paths, rose gardens and sat around the charming little lake.
As Max was working up at the Opera House that night on the finale of Australian Idol Nicki and I decided to have her farewell Sydney drinks at the Opera Bar. It was great getting glammed up in little black dresses and enjoying a bottle of Opera House bubbly. The atmosphere was quite electric and we kept entertained by the other patrons when a few guys stripped down to their boxers and jumped into the Harbour as well as a pair drag queens who were parading themselves up and down the bar.
But the most spectacular sight was when the fireworks went off illuminating the sky creating a technicolour backdrop for the Opera House. It took everyone by surprise and was really intense with mighty bangs, the ground shaking in places and a sweet gunpowdery smell in the air. Was such an amazing sight to see and experience.
This weekend I also blitzed the shops in Sydney. After five months of wearing the same clothes over and over again I needed some new additions to my wardrobe and a pair of high heels (can't believe I've only worn flats since I left England). Venues in the city are completely different to the coast and always wanting to be one who dresses for the occasion I saw this as the perfect opportunity to treat myself especially as I've now started earning again.
