Deb's Adventures
Not much exciting happened today. Lesley and I walked to the beach and back this morning. I unpacked and got some laundry done. We ran errands. We spent the afternoon lazing around reading.
I decided I really wanted a burrito for dinner so we went to the grocery store to by Mexican food to cook. This seems like a really easy thing if you live in the US but it's not so easy in Australia. I am standing in the international food isle in Coles looking for black beans and Lesley says we don’t have anything exotic like black beans here. I almost died laughing. I managed to find refried beans, a jar of jalapeños, a jar of salsa, some tortillas, a block of cheddar cheese and a bunch of cilantro although they call it coriander here. I sautéed sweet potatoes, onions, and red peppers with cumin, red pepper flakes and black pepper and rolled everything up and it actually resembled a burrito.
We are having a fancy dress party on March 24th. Fancy dress is Australian for costume party. We had to decide on a theme so we could start getting the invitations out. We finally settled on the letter "D" for Deb. Everyone has to come dressed in a costume that starts with the letter D.
