Deb's Adventures
Our plan today was to drink a bottle of champagne on the beach to celebrate Valentine's Day. We had to wait at the house until 10am so we could call Suntravel back to book our stay at Heron Island for next week. As soon as Eric hung up the phone it started to rain so we sat on Lesley’s deck and played dominoes and enjoyed our champagne. Not quite the beach but still relaxing and fun and I was with Eric so that’s all that counts.
In the afternoon we had to run errands and pack and get ready for our 12 day road trip. We had to run up to Lesley neighbor’s house to print our travel documents for our trip. In Australia you need a document to check into a hotel you have a reservation at. Anyway we went to Margie and Garrick’s house a few doors down to use the printer. Margie is one of Lesley’s best friends and we have spent a lot of time with them since arriving in Australia.
Garrick fed the kookaburras while we were there. Kookaburra’s are crazy birds that sound like laughing monkeys. We hear them every morning in Lesley’s trees. They are very used to Garrick and will practically eat out of his hands. I was sad that I did not have my camera with me. I missed a great photo session. You should all YouTube kookaburras so you can see what they look like and listen to their very unusual song (If you can call it a song). It was a cool experience being that close to them.
Lesley and Ray went out for dinner and left Eric and I to have a romantic Valentines evening on our own. We had dinner and enjoyed a bottle of wine we picked up while we were in the Hunter Valley. We finished packing and went to bed early.
