Hey all how are things? I'm back in Auckland now before I head off to Fiji on Thursday so i just thought i'd get my blog updated! The last time I left you I was just getting to Queenstown which is the party town in New Zealand, so as you can probably guess we've had one or two nights out! The last time I left you I told you about the Kawarau river bridge jump which I had just done. On the night we had had our first night out in Queenstown! We got a few drinks and all got together in one of the dorm rooms for a bit of pre drinking. We then decided to wined up one of the American girls by telling her that in England we injected vodka! I then went outside with Tej with an needle and a bottle of vodka an we pretended to inject it into my arm, i then walked about 5 minutes later and prenteded to be completely hammered!! It was hilarious she actually believed i'd just injected vodka, typical yanks so gullable haha! It was a pretty messy night out, we ended up at world bar (where we ended up pretty much every night!!!) and got free drinks at 11 by asking if we could have a job there. I reckon the pickle should try it, Rick would never be short of bar staff then!!! We also had our 1st teapot in World Bar which where they make a pretty strong cocktail and give it you in .... you'll never guess .... yes a teapot!!!
The next day I was feeling nowhere near as bad as I should of which was pretty handy as I was about to jump the 3rd highest bungy in the world and swing the highest arc swing in the world! When we got there they got us all suited up and stuck us in a cable cart so we could get across to the bungy cart, as you can imagine there were a few nervous faces - I think I made everyone slightly sick as I wasn't really nervous i was just trying to work out something different to do as i jumped off to try an top the superman! There were a few ideas but the best was the Usain Bolt pose as i'd be doing 134m in 8 seconds! As i got attatched and looked down I did get a few butterflies but there was noway i wasn't jumping! As she counted down from 3 to 1 (I was that excited i think i might of actually jumped on 2?!?!?!) I dived off attempting the Usain Bolt which didn't quiet work as i started to spin round lol! The bungy was quality you just feel really free, my favourite part though was after you bounce up the first time and you fly back up to a certain point and feel like your floating before you drop again, it was quality! After the bungy I had a good buzz but it didn't stop there as i headed straight over to the Arc swing to give that a go!
When I got to the Arc swing a few of the others came over to watch on the platform! I decided to do the swing backwards, hoping that it would give me a bit more of an adrenaline rush! Dom asked for the release switch so he had the power to let go which probably wasn't the best thing that could of happened!! So i'm sitting there talking away to the blokes who opperate the swing when he turns round to Dom and asks him whether the switch is not working, so i relax thinking i'm not going anywhere soon when out of nowhere I just drop suddenly because Dom had finally decided to push the button!!! The swing was quality, the shock of not knowing when I was going to be released definately added to it, I would probably say that it actually gave me a bigger buzz then the bungy! We headed back to the hostel all on a high and decided to go to Fergburger to get something to eat. I decided to go for a sweet julie which was absolutely amazing, easily the best burger i have ever had in my life and as you can probably guess we went there a few more times before we left Queenstown! On the night we headed out again for another messy night out at world bar, it was a quality night they had a band on an then the DJ carried on with the indie music which was quality!!
The next day I didn't do alot just headed around the town with Dom an Jack and we booked our car and cruise tickets for Milford Sound. That night I had planned to stay in but it was a couple of the girls last night so I headed to there room to say bye to them when they persuaded me to go out for a few drinks with them - free vodka, plus it was there last night so it would of been rude not too!!! The next day we just chilled out for most of it having another look around the shops, until there was a mass panic when we realised Dom had actually booked our rental car for the wrong day so we ended up spent most of the afternoon trying to sort that out - it was seriously a bad idea leaving him in charge!! On the night it was a few of the other lads last night so we all went out again but I gave the drink a miss as I had to get up early to pick the car up and my liver probably needed the break!!!
The next morning me and Dom got up to go an pick the car up, we headed back to Queenstown to pick the others up and then split the driving between us on the way to Te Anau! The drive was quality as the scenary was amazing, the bad part though was the driving was a bit boring as we had a go kart (automatic) so it wern't the best! When we got to Te Anau we had a bit of a walk around the town and it felt like we were in a horror movie - 6 people in there late teens, early 20's going on a road trip and ending up in a strange quiet town! We had another chilled out night and went to sleep for an hour or so. Me an Amanda then got up just before 12 so we could go and watch the Machester Derby!
The nesxt morning we headed off to Milford at about 8ish, the drive again had some quality views so we had a few stop offs on the way. The criuse itself was pretty cool, the views were quality and we saw a few sealions and then went to the underwater observatory which again was pretty decent! The best thing about the cruise though was the all you can eat BBQ buffet as the food was quality, i definately ate my fair share put it that way!!! We all slept the first half of the journey back (apart from Jack of course who was driving!)! When we got to Te Anua we got a few beers for the rest of the journey back and when we got to Queenstown we had a quick bite to eat before going out again on another messy night out! We ended up in good old world bar again and on the way back me an Amanda decided we were to awake to go straight home so went for a walk and some how ended up by the cemetary :s
After a nice lie in, we still had the car for an extra day so we decided to take the 45 minute drive down to Glenorchy which again was another amazing drive, just as good if not better then the drive down to Milford! We stopped there for a couple of hours then headed back for another night out in Queenstown! We had a few drinks in the dorm again and i ended up losing a rock papers scissors competition to Juliet which was for a dare! She definately got her own back after one i'd made her do before as she decided to get me to run down the hall wearing nothing but a toilet seat over my head - definately not a pretty sight!! Emma also ended up spliting the back of her head open after Amanda grabbed her from behind and they both fell over so that added a bit more drama to the night! We stayed in the hostel bar that night and had a really good night as there was a massive group of us that were out!
On the Tuesday Jack, Emma and I decided to climb this massive hill so we could have a look at the views over Queenstown. We could have got the Gondaler up to the top but decided we needed a bit of exercise so walked instead - the decision didn't seem like a wise one after 10 minutes of climbing but we made our way up there ... eventually! The views at the top were quality and we chilled out there for a while before heading back down. That night we decided to have a quiet one and went for a curry together before watching fast and the furious back at the hostel!
The following day we slept in pretty late and then Me, Jack, Dom and Adam went for a game of Frisbee golf! It's pretty cool basically you've got to throw the frisbee the lenght of the hole and the hole is either a tree pole or a basket! It was pretty difficult and me and Adam lost so had to buy the other lads a drink! On the night we headed out again and I was pretty wasted, it was a quality night though! My last day in Queenstown was spent helping Amanda try to find her passport which she'd lost. She realised she'd lost it the night before and we couldn't work out how she'd lost it because she had hardly been anywhere! We didn't have any luck so had to find out how to go about getting her a new one! On the night we had our last Fergburger and then headed out again! I only had the one as I was nakered and really didn't fancy drinking so headed back early with a couple of the others!
