On the Saturday we left the Poo Pub an its fair to to say there were more then a few soar heads on the bus. On the way to Franz Josef we stopped off at the bushmans center which i thought was absolutely hillarious!! First of all we watched a film about how they used to catch deer etc! There was a quality sign in the room which said the film may cause offence to children an adults who live on planet bambi! Some of these blokes were crazy, they'd jumped out of a helicopter straight on to the deer - it was pretty funny to watch espically the bloke who kept missing!! There were also letters of complaint on the side calling the bloke an animal who lacked intelligence etc with his response to them which were quality - i've took a few pictures but i'm not sure if you'll be able to see them or not! We then carried on through to Franz Josef and in the afternoon me and Dom went Kayaking on Lake Mapourika which was amazing! There was no wind on the Lake due to all the land round it so it was perfectly still and you could see a mirror reflection on the scenary! I've got some quality photos where it looks like the kayak is actually in the sky! We were also on the lake for the sunset which just made some of the superb views look even better! The kayaking lasted three hours in total so my arms were pretty dead after. That night we had a quiet night as we were going ice climbing on the glacier then next day!
On the Sunday we went Ice climbing, i've renamed it vertical limit day! The Ice Climbing was quality! We had to be there at 7:30 in the morning to get kitted out and then we headed off to the Glacier! When we arrived we had a 40 minute walk until we reached the Ice, part of it was on a really step slope which killed me so i was pretty relieved when the guide said that was the stepest part of our journey!! When we got on the ice we found a blue which was an amazing blue ice cave which we walked through! We then made our way further up the glacier to the first of our two climbs. We did two out of three of these climbs and it really did take it out of me - and these were the easy one's!!!! I guess 3 hours of kayaking the day before didn't help either! With my whole body feeling like jelly we started our walk to the second wall for a few more climbs. We arrived at a massive wall which was proper steep! On my first climb I managed to get up about 2 thirds of the way until my boots gave way while my ice picks were out the wall and i slipped off - thank god your tied on with a rope. I couldn't get back on the wall so gave up on that climb. On my second time my arms and legs were already shaking before i'd even started but i'd said i'd give it a go if one of the other girls did so I couldn't pull out! I got half way up an my legs and arms were completely shaking and i had no strength at all so i shouted to come back down - err no chance everyone at the bottom started cheering so I had to keep going! Somehow i managed to actually make it to the top, i think even the guides were pretty amazed i think it was just pure determination to get up there which got me through! When i got back down my legs and arms were shaking like mad and i could bearly stand, but i didn't have no time to think about that as we had to start our walk back down!!! When we got back i was aching all over and completely nakered but luckily i'd bought a ticket to the hot pools which were quality, they were so relaxing it was unbelievable! On the way back we picked up some elephant fish and chips, yeah elephant fish, how wierd is that!!! My back was still tied in knots so i got one of the girls to give me a cheeky massage - oh yeah!!! The plan was then to go for a few drinks but we were all completely nakered so we ended up just heading off to bed for an early night! Ice climbing was superb even though it was nakering I had a quality time and it was definately an amazing experience!!
