Wet, wet, wet. An average band but also an apt description of our day in Rome. We had a lie in this morning before heading out to find a warmer coat for Jac. It was overcast but not as cold as yesterday. After about 10 minutes it started to snow which made it very beautiful. It started off slow but eventually it really became thick but the good thing with snow is you can just brush it away. We walked past a fountain which had all iced up. I took the attached photo but unfortunately too quick so it came out very blurry.
We arrived at the shopping precinct and Jac set to work. We tried the North Face store but just too much out of our price range. We also tried a few other stores and no luck but we knew of a coat at Zara from the day before so we headed back there. After making sure every coat was tried on in store Jac settled for a big puffy one of good quality. Then we found a nice wooly scarf that she can use to cover her face. At least I can still see her eyes. With her shopping euphoria satisfied we walked back outside to rain and without umbrellas we decided to head back to the warmth of the hotel.
On the trip back Jac said "I'm almost too warm". Now that's what I want to hear. She should be all set for Berlin now. I got told I was crazy by a shopkeeper because I'm walking round in a jumper but I'm just not really feeling the cold. I did have my gloves and beanie on but that was more to do with the rain.
We arrived back home and walked into the warmth of our refuge. We got out of wet clothes and relaxed on the bed thinking of what we were going to do, but as it was too crappy to walk around and as we were cozy we settled in and just took it easy for the afternoon.
I had been in contact with Jade and Emily, who we had met in Madrid, to catch up at some stage. Emily couldn't make it but Jade was going to Giolitti (a legendary ice-cream shop) with friends and invited us along. We jumped at the chance because even though we had only met her once it would be great to see a friendly face again.
This time with umbrellas we ventured out into the pouring rain and made our way the 2k's to Giolitti. After a few wrong turns we arrived and it was great to see Jade and her friends. We chose our ice-cream flavours and settled in for a lovely chat complemented by the most amazing ice-cream. After a few hours, interrupted by lightning, thunder and pouring rain, we all said our goodbyes and headed back home getting drenched in the process. It was a great evening spent with lovely people and a perfect way to end the day. It was awesome to meet you Jade and hope you have a great Xmas with your family. Great selection of a meeting place too.
