Today we drove up over the mountains over tiny narrow roads and through pretty little Italian villages. We were avoiding tolls again so it gave us a chance to see more of the countryside. We arrived at Como early afternoon and checked in to our hotel, then headed out for a boat ride on the lake. The views were so spectacular. It's just amazing how much beauty there really is in this world. We tried to take lots of photos to capture what we were experiencing but you know it just never shows. Beautiful lake surrounded by mountains with villages dotting the sides. Snow covered peaks in the background. I couldnt even come close to describing what we were seeing, but it is in a hand full of the most beautiful places we have ever been to. We took the boat to a small village called Torno where we had a wander as we were enjoying gelati. We then took the boat back to Como then we rode the funicular up to Brunate. The town overlooks the lake so we wandered along enjoying the view even though it was hazy. We were lucky enough to have a lookout to ourselves so sat there feeling so far away from the world, with the sort of views you always dream to see. Then it was back down into town and we headed to a pizza place we had come across on the Internet. There we had the most amazing pizza we have ever tasted. We thought good pizza in Italy was a myth but it does exist. It was really a perfect end to a perfect day.
