Heading west along the Victoria Highway the landscape was forever changing. The colours of the trees varying from deep green leaves to silvery colours, with so many varieties of trees. At one stage as we drove down the highway, the left hand side of the road was a vivid colours of green and the right hand side the grass was dry and creamy colour.
Before our eyes a beautiful red rocky escarpment appeared. The views were breathtaking, we were seeing more of what our beautiful country has to offer. The landscape changing yet again as the red rocky escarpments fade away to grassy, treed with palm trees covered hills and then the flat plateaus.
We pulled in for the night to Sullivans Campground in the Gregory National Park.
In the morning we decided to have breakfast down the road at Victoria River, but before we left we decided to go for a walk from the campground, only to find it was only 100metres. Anyhow nice way to start the day. After breakfast at Victoria River, we sat enjoying the view with our toast
and coffee. Just down the road was the escarpment walk, it was 3km hike up the rocky track to the top of the escarpment. The views were spectacular and a very rewarding hike. Back on the road and we are starting to see lots of Boab trees.
Our next stop was the Old Victoria Crossing, a quick walk to loosen the muscles before moving onto Timber Creek for lunch. After catching up on phone calls etc we pulled into Big Horse Campground in the Gregory National Park.
