We left Harriet Creek heading north east towards Kakadu National Park. We stopped at Bukbukluk lookout, the view was fantastic and found some beautiful flora.
Lots of palms, different flora. Crossing rivers, spotted our first croc, beautiful scenery.
Tried to take DABUS down to Gunlom Waterfalls but after 5 km's in we decided the corrugations were too bad and shaking DABUS around too much, so turned around (we tried CUPPA).
Stopped at Cooinda Lodge for a look around before heading back to DABUS for lunch and for Alan to order our meet and greet travelling cards.
Went to Yellow Waters (Cooinda) for a walk out on the platforms, we certainly held on tight to our phone's over the walkways.
Pulled in for the night at Burdulba Camping Area 17km south of Jabiru. Croc warning signs up, just cooked dinner when the mosquitoes invaded us. So dinner was in DABUS for the night. No breeze and mossie's didn't make for a pleasant night.
Up early the next morning went to Nourlangie Rock's and Anbangbang Billabong to see the Aborigine Rock art. Stunning lookout and overview of this area.
There we met a young 21 year old Aussie woman, Laura from Geelong. Her dream and mission is to travel this beautiful country of ours, heading in the same direction as us, but she has already visited Darwin, so hopefully we will catch up with her in our travels.
Stopped for two nights at the Kakadu Resort in Jabiru (the heart of Kakadu). Laura was staying here, so have caught up with her. Did the sights of the town.
Went out to Ubirr Rock and Cahills crossing. Amazing rock art and views. Cahills crossing is the crossing to Arnhem Land, over the East Alligator River.

Cuppa Shame about Gunlom, but them’s the breaks. If you have time I also *very* highly recommend the early morning ‘breakfast’ boat tour at Yellow Waters. We don’t pay for a lot of tours, but this one was the best we’ve ever done ........ gives a very different perspective of Kakadu, IMHO it’s what Kakadu is really about. The early morning stillness & animal/bird life is special.
