Camping in Cape Leveque where we didnt sleep!! The drive into Cape Leverque was awsome. We all love a bit of 4 wheel driving and this was a 200km track. Once we set up our tent had a beer n freddo! We were ready to hit the beach we went to the eastern swimming beach, beautiful clear water and perfect temperature again must of been 28 degrees or so. We thought we would try our hand at a bit of fishing something we are all novices too! We fished at the western beach at sunset stunning. After a busy day we were all really tired so had showers with the massive green tree frogs. The stars at night are so bright just lovely to sit back and stare at. Early night for us, our tent was boiling! Only went down to 32 degrees that night with no breeze. Made for a eventful night lots of laughs, but no sleep we were up n down like yoyo's. Anzac day service on the eastern beach a first for Cape Leveque. Our girls were lucky enough to have been selected to lay the reef. The sunrising was beautiful. Anzac service always makes me emotional and think of our grandads. During the WWII Cape leveque was a secret radar base and was instrumental in the protection of the west coast. They succesfully took over a japanese war ship, and informed Darwin of incoming Japenese planes. Following the beach service we all had brekky at the cafe, then a traditional game of two up. Fantasic.
Again lots of wildlife to see we saw Wallibies, heard barking owls lots of frogs and a snake in our camp site!! On our way out of Cape Leveque we stopped of at Beagle Bay, which is a big aboriginal community and has a beautiful church there that was built in 1917 by the priest and local community. Inside it is beautifully decorated with pearl shells, We were greeted by a beautiful happy stray dog in the church and a random thong.
So back to Broome we came! Beautiful Broome. We are staying with Megan, Matt, Lucas & Keeley who have made us so welcome and feel so very at home with them its lovely. Matt Gave us a few fishing pointers so of we went again to a place call Quondong!(which sound like a chinese take away to me!) Another 4 wheel drive track for the triton! We found a fab spot on the beach and threw our lines in the ocean. We were fishing with 3 big turtles in the water with us! After a couple of hours we caught 1 golden spotted cod. Had a looks at it then threw it back in. So many crazy crabs on the beach too so we all pick a crab and had our own crazy crab race. Candeeces crab jumped ship and left its shell, Kevs crab was the winner as Mikayla and I's carbs just hid!!
Sun Pictures were brilliant it claims to be the worlds oldest outdoor cinema. We saw Mr Peabodys and Sherman. As we were sat there 2 planes flew over head which was really cool. We all really enjoyed the old school style deck chairs and yummy popcorn. Megan took me to the gym for a work out! which was fab. Had to try work of some of the beer from Matso Brewery. The tasting planks are ace our favourite was the chango beer which is a cross between chilli and mango, yum. The ginger beer was freshing also and the girls loved the chips! ha. Food here is so good great chinese dumplings, yummy Thai and good pub grub!
