We found a lovely spot here to camp for a week while we explore cairns and prepare for our adventure up to the Cape! Our site is undercover and we are surrounded by nature everywhere we look. Many types of birds here we have been introduced to a bowa bird and his hide, which he takes great pride in. Decorating it carefully with stones, shiny objects, broken pieces of glass and his favourite color red! He keeps his hide looking snappy so as to entertain the lady's!.
Tawny frog mouth owls, pink n grey galahs, friendly magpies, noisy apostles and loads more which I'm not sure the names of !
The campgrounds backdrop are the local mountainous ranges, which we 4 wheel drove up one day. We were so high at the top we were almost in the clouds!
Weather here has been mid 20s and drizzly so nice and cosy evenings around our campfire. One of the local residents came over to us with a wild python that he'd just caught...so naturally we all had a hold!!! Made friends with some lovely dogs here that we named Saffy n Rascal.
From here we had a few day trips out saw all the attractions. Kuranda markets for browsing quite hippy very cool. Port Douglas for a spot of lunch and World Cup football in the Irish pub, Lovely walk at Ellis beach, amazing day trip out to Cape Tribulation & Daintree rain Forrest and of course Cairns. Absolutely stunning scenery it's so breathtakingly beautiful it doesn't look real! Driving along these windy roads full of lush green rain Forrest that hug the tropical coast line is very pleasant.
