Raring and ready to hit the Cape not really knowing what to expect and whoa wee what a awesome adventure! Great to be camping we all love being in this beautiful outdoors in our tents. Lovely hot weather and blue sky's. We spent our first night at musgrave station. We stopped in coen for fuel then headed to Bramwell station. Brilliant family spot. The girls made friends with some local kids so they hopped on there roof rack (as you do) to go pig hunting out in the bush! The girls also enjoyed looking after the horses and bottle feeding the calves. We stayed two nights here had fun on the bucking bull, loved happy hour at the bar and enjoyed the live entertainment each night. We left here excited to entered the famous telegraph track! After being highly entertained watching 8 cars being winched out from palm creek crossing we decided to bypassed that one. Along the track we met so many lovely people and made friends with a great bunch from Brisbane. Arriving shaken up but safely after some gnarly driving, we all spent the afternoon enjoying the creek beside the gunshot, all was well until our new friend nearly tip his car! After taking some photos of him stuck we all had fun helping him out! Hilarious. We've been lucky enough to be following the film crew from Action Four wheel drive magazine, so keep your eye out for the Cape York edition n DVD we might be in some of there footage (fingers crossed)
Our next camp spot was the amazing punsand bay right on the beach front, such a tease not being able to swim, although really lovely to be back on the beach. Girls have been busy collecting starfish and catching bait with their nets and new friends.
It's really cool to see the trees around camp covered with car mats, seat covers and carpets all drying out after the nolans brook crossing.
The drive up to the Cape was stunning, pulling into a abandoned resort then parking up on the pristine beach. We walked around the beach at low tide and climbed over some rocks taking in the fabulous view all the way to the most northern point of Australia.... Whoa what a magnificent place. Water so aqua green the white sands of the beaches, blue sky's and tropical islands surrounding. We walked back over the rocks found someone on a nation wide treasure hunt, pretty cool app called geocache.
We stopped for lunch at my favourite beach to date Somerset absolute paradise this is the place of postcards! even fallen coconuts on the beach! Great day out.
Leaving here we headed back to the telegraph track for a few more creek crossing! Got a little lost in places but made our way to Elliot falls. After setting up our tents we swam in the falls, extremely happy to have the whole place to ourselves, we made use of the waterfalls by having back massages under them lush! The rapids create little spa pools which I loved!! Fruit bat falls was fantastic. Another fab place for a beer n freddo!
From here we spent 2 nights at wiepa washing and restocking! Beautiful sunset.
Next camp Archer River for a night. The girls enjoying playing in this river on the roadside!
Kalpower crossing for a night which was brilliant. Thanks to the bush ranger taking us out a dusk with our torches to see and explore the spiders, frogs, snakes, birds, goannas and two big crocs swimming up n down the crossing! Everything's a little more interesting at night in the bush.Very cool.
Endeavour River Escape just out side of cook town, beautiful spot so much so that a one night stop over, turned into four! Great fishing, loads of firewood for campfires each night.
The lady who owns this gorgeous property would come and collect our girls each afternoon in her little jeep and take them to go feed the Clydesdale horses. Which delighted both Candeece and Mikayla.
Then we were off to Hayley's camp. We loved the waterfalls here just magical, topped off with pizza for lunch at The Lions Den.
Looking forwards to doing the Bloomfield track today! Fantastic drive brilliant weather coming through Cape Tribulation and the Daintree.
We spent almost 3 weeks on this little adventure and loved every single glorious minute! Action packed adventure.
