Day 35
Broome
"Up, up and away in my beautiful my beautiful balloon...."
Ok so not as exciting as yesterday I'm sorry to report. No video interview granted either sorry !
We completed the look around Broome town this morning. Went to Sun Pictures , the oldest outdoor cinema in the world that's still working. Was great to see the old projectors and movie memorabilia - I doubt they've ever thrown anything away!
We visited a few more pearl stores as well. They have the biggest perfectly rounded pearl in the world here on display too at Cygnet Bay Pearls. It's 70mm in circumference and 22mm diameter and its also priceless, not for sale and heavily guarded!
We then took a drive to the Bureau of Meteorology to see how they measure the weather at the field station. Cayden got to fill and launch a hydrogen weather balloon that we locked the radar onto to track the wind speed and pattern. You could still see the spec about 4km up as we left too. It just bursts when the ballon gets do out of shape and about triple the size it was when launched.
Had a cruisy late afternoon and sat on the beach to watch another end to a beautiful sunny day with a few beers and then had dinner at the restaurant overlooking the beach watching the final colours of the day fade.
More fun in the sun tomorrow!
