Day 34

Broome

"Girls on film (two minutes later), girls on film
Girls on film (got your picture), girls on film"

Oh yeah - forgot to mention yesterday that as we got closer to Broome ( about 40 or so k's out) all the phones start going off with messages that have been stored for the days we've been out of range.

One of the messages I got read
" Hi CJ - going to be in Broome for the next few days shooting for DJ's - let me know if you guys are around and we can catchup - love Miranda K...."

We had a lazy morning this morning! Broome dosent get motivated until 10am and as it turns out pretty well closes at 4pm!

After breakfast we went to the Broome Museum which houses a lot of historical pearling equipment - everything from the suits and boots to the hoses and oxygen generators and also pioneer family heirlooms from the turn of last century and WW2 memorabilia . I didn't know Broome was bombed in the days just after Darwin was!

We came back to the beach for lunch at the van and a swim at the pool and then went for a drive out to Gantheume Point where the lighthouse is. Little did everyone know that I'd called Miranda and found out that she was shooting a TVC for DJ's out there as well by the waters edge. So we arrived and looked at the other cool things out at the point - like the lighthouse, dinosaur footprints ( copies - the real ones are only accessible at extremely low tides ) and Anastasia's pool hand carved in the sandstone by the lighthouse keeper for his wife.

We hung out with Miranda until shooting was finished for the day and she ordered her car to pick her up.

We left the Point and Miranda and drove around to the Port down some dirt tracks that overlook some great colours of Broome's coastline. From there it was into town to walk the pearling outlets and to look at the beautiful jewellery on offer. We saw the last 2 wooden pearling luggers left in the world and Cobes bought a pair of pearl earrings.

We ended the day at Cable Beach watching the sunset and getting a couple of Pizza's from Eagle Boys.

Tomorrow we'll be back at the beach with Miranda from 9am and we'll then go back and walk all the shops that were closed at 4pm ( hard life hey)!
