Hi Andrew,
Reviews of Hotels as requested......
Raddison Blu Edwardian Bloomsbury
Ok....
You have tall 'tin men', turtles and a gigantic red deer reclining comfortably on the white leather chaise.
And that's just the foyer.
Great choice.
The rooms look spectacular.
And the views out the windows amazing.
Bit of a hike from the Vault but inebriation always makes the miles just slip away.
Approved.
Le Ville Hotel Manchester.
One hell of a walk from the Vault.
Try to find a pub closer.
Nice outlook.
Water views
Nice rooms.
Pretty street.
No deer or turtles... or tall tin men for that matter.
Try to let go, you've moved on.
Approved.
( Just as an aside, I've seen the Falkirk wheel.
Basically ... Been there. Done that.)
Hotel Rialto, Venice.
Possibly better water views.
Hey, it's red.
( Try not to think about the deer. Seriously.)
WOW!!!!
See the bridge.
Location.
WOW!!!!
And the rooms look amazing!
Now, that's Venice.
Approved.
Hotel Cubo, Ljubljana.
Lovely rooms.
Amazing on-suites.
Wonderful olde worlde views
And it's white.
That's nice, isn't it?
Memories fade.
Approved.
Hotel Amfiteatar Pula
Hey, there's a Roman Colosseum outside your window!
Seriously.
And have you seen the light show on this at night?
Wow!
Rooms look lovely.
Glass door on the mini fridge ... pretty cool.
And look at that magnificent bay!
Did I mention The Colosseum?
Approved.
Hotel Vestibul Palace, Split.
Plaster work looks a bit rough.
They've missed a few bits of wall.
Otherwise ...
Rooms look magnificent.
Location second to none.
(1 minute from the Hotel Jupiter)
Magnificent outdoor courtyard.
Approved.
Hotel Amfora, Hvar.
Well, I am staying in this one.
Bound to be magnificent.
Approved.
Hotel Excelsior, Dubrovnik
Now this one is pretty good.
Stunning water views
Stunning views of everything.
Great location
The Gallery of Fame is not too shabby either.
I think that's Dolly Parton top left hand corner.
Approved
Barron's Alto Hotel, Lisbon
Ohhhh....
This one has a rooftop bar.
Great old building.
Amazing views
Look at that statue in the square.
AND you are 2 steps away from the most famous pastry shop in all of Lisbon, The Brazilian.
(Strange name for a pastry shop.)
AND close to the mythical ice cream shop, Santini.
AND Tram 28 stops right at the door.
You can't get better than that.
Try to avoid the 'alternative' shopping close by. Don't want to make a spectacle of yourself.
Otherwise, approved.
Now, if you really have to, bring home the red deer.
I have just the spot for it.
Best regards,
Carolyn

Andrew Browning Hi Carolyn,Thank you for your outstanding hotel reviews and comments.Looking forward to it all unfolding over the next 5 weeks. It must be happening as its in print………..my turn………………WOWFunny reading my own plans in print. We have been fortunate to have been to some of these places before…………….………………and exceptionally fortunate to be returning. WOW to us!! It’s great you are also travelling to the same destinations with the same passion, we will defiantly have to compare notes and stories.I’ll leave clues around town, see if you can find them haha Andrew.
Carolyn Oh good.So I have now packed a small glass in my handbag.I am assuming the clues that you leave around town are of the Scotch Whiskey variety.Just small bottles will do.I think you can buy those small bottles at Duty Free.Stock up as you are passing through Tullamarine. And don't go overboard, I would like to remember the trip.Glad you are going first! And, we have to get right up on the secret hidey places.I think Cathedrals are good, don't you?Every place has got one.OK then ...Third Gargoyle on the right looking at the front entrance. And, just as an aside ....Who needs The Doctor when you've got an Andrew?
