Last time in London, I think I kept confusing people by getting excited and saying 'this' was the thing I had been most looking forward to seeing/doing while I was here.
As it turned out that list was endless.
It's just that none of us knew it at the time.
So I thought I'd try to compile a list of things I really want to do.
It will keep growing
So here it is so far.
Feel free to add your thoughts.
* Buy a selfie stick.
Cannot believe I haven't done that before now.
Emily are I are going to be in photos together this time!
Yah.
* Have a drink (or meal) in the rooftop bar overlooking Trafalgar Square.
We can toast Nelson.
* Climb St Paul's and talk to each other in The Whispering Gallery.
Mum and Dad did that in 1984.
Matter of fact, I have just finished reading Mum's diary from 1984.
Wednesday 9th May, they got to St Paul's at 9.30am ...
Left at 2pm to get some lunch ...
Went back to see the Crypt til 4pm...
And after a short trip to HARRODS...
They went back to St Paul's at 6pm to see Princess Anne leave the Cathedral.
That's a lot of time to spend at St Paul's.
I might be hard pushed to get Emily to match that.
Her record with churches would suggest a slightly shorter visit.
On the plus side, I can tell you that Emily is brilliant at checking on my progress as we climb hundreds and hundreds of marble steps on circular staircases.
So Whispering Gallery, here we come.
* Sit on a lion in a Trafalgar Square.
Self explanatory.
Just need that first 'leg up'.
* Buy 2 cups of roasted nuts from the man with the barrow on Millennium Bridge.
Let me tell you, if it didn't take 24 hours flying time to get there, I'd be there twice a day buying those and curse the consequences.
They are delicious.
( Location helps.)
Hope they live up to the memory.
* Buy something outrageous at HARRODS.
Just because I'm there and then, I won't be there.
A memento.
( Looking for a miniature elephant. Always wanted an elephant but full size is too big.)
* Do a Beefeater Tour of the Tower of London.
Four Beefeaters chased me out at closing time last time.
Better hide at the back.
* Sit and eat at The Vault restaurant under Tower Bridge and watch the passing parade and the lights come on in London.
This can also be done at the rooftop restaurant overlooking Trafalgar Square.
See ... sometimes there are places worth 'sitting and eating'...
PostScript ...
In April this year a helicopter had to land in Trafalgar Square to airlift a woman with serious injuries.
She had fallen 11 ft from a bronze lion.
I may have to reassess that one on the day.
