OK
What bottle do you use to put the message in?
Not something that takes up a lot of thinking time in the course of your day to day activities, is it?
But, Emily and I are booked to go on a yacht on our free day in Kusadasi, on the Turquoise Coast of Turkey.
I think it will be similar to Angelo's Boat Tour in Monterosso.
Lots of food, drink and plenty of swimming involved.
And just sailing on that magnificent water.
Kuşadası is a beach resort town on Turkey’s western Aegean coast. A jumping-off point for visiting the classical ruins at nearby Ephesus (or Efes), it’s a major cruise ship stop. Its seafront promenade, marina and harbor are lined with hotels and restaurants. Just offshore on Pigeon Island is a walled Byzantine castle that once guarded the town, connected to the mainland via causeway.
Our hotel in Kusadasi looks beautiful.
It is right on the coast and has an incredible pool that overlooks the sea.
From what I can work out from photos on the Net, we should be able to see the Island from the hotel.
The full day of sailing on the yacht, swimming and just generally sightseeing from the water appealed to us, especially as it is supposed to be still warm while we are there.
So I decided that, while we are out sailing on the Aegean Sea that I wanted to throw a bottle overboard.
The bottle will have a message that says a little about our visit to Gallipoli and Turkey, and I also wanted to put a poppy in the bottle.
Several things here.
I don't know how far off the coast we will be.
And which way the waters flow.
But worth a shot anyway, I thought.
OK.
Back to the original question.
What bottle do you use to put the message in?
Google is no help.
I'll have to really think on this.
What's best?
Plastic?
Glass?
Screw top?
A cork?
You try walking the supermarket looking for a bottle to throw overboard.
And then thinking, should I really take this in the case?
I think you had better stay tuned, because, when there is the full moon over Kusadasi, I will take a picture of the bottle to show you what I decided on.
I mentioned the full moon.
When Emily and I watched the Eiffel Tower light up from our picnic on the Champs de Mars last year, there was a full moon over Paris.
And we watched it as our taxi took us back to our hotel.
We will have a full moon over Kusadasi when we are there.
And I hope to wander down to the shore, watch the moon rise over the ruins of the castle on Pidgeon Island ... and just be amazed at where I am.
