Take Two.
Beautiful breakfast again.
Boy was I tired last night.
And it's 6pm here and I just finished writing up yesterday.
I am in the Lobby.
We come down here.
Get a drink at the bar, with free peanuts.
Sit in 2 enormous red chairs and type furiously.
So today...
Off by Tube, no less, to Embankment to walk from there to Covent Garden.
Emily's first Tube trip and we nailed it.
Oyster Cards purchased... We were off.
( Slight hiccup when Emily tried to exit the tube using her CBA Money card)
Easy mistake. One is bright yellow. The other is a nice shade of blue.
Very funny actually.
She was standing at the gate, thumping this card down on the scanner.
Nothing happening.
Mine doesn't work.
Oh...
Very funny.
We were grinning all the way up the stairs.
Embankment is very pretty.
We wandered up the road with a beautiful walled garden on our right.
Get to the very busy T intersection and Emily has lost Google Maps.
Right or left?
So I immediately accost a Londoner, while behind me Emily is saying...
"Hang on, Mum."
Too late. I'm in conversation.
The lady points left.
Err... I can see Nelson's Column and the spire of St Martin-in-the-Fields to our left.
I don't think Covent Garden is near Trafalgar Square.
So... I direct the Londoner to Covent Garden ... to our right.
I turn back to Emily.
She points at her phone, and then to the right.
And off we go.
A mini adventure though....
( Not sure Emily thought so.)
Nice walk to Covent Garden.
The big buildings appear...
Antiques Monday.
Fun around all the stalls.
Lots and lots of old stuff.
Particularly looking for the stall that sold me the printer's ink blocks last time.
I loved those.
Street performers.
We had an early lunch of pies downstairs outside a little cafe.
Absolutely delicious.
Took Emily across to the toilets that I remembered from last time.
Funny what you are able to locate years later.
Then we decided to separate.
Emily looking for a watch.
Me just looking.
Had a ball.
Bought 7 metal soldiers and the key to London from a wonderful stall holder.
We had fun.
Had to get a key after buying that key in Lucerne.
This one was ALOT cheaper!
Decided I now collect keys.
Lucerne
New York.
Now a London.
That's pretty good.
Just think of all the places I can get into!
Emily and I met up again and she had found me the 'ink blocks' stall.
So I had a wonderful time with that stall holder while I chose more stamps for home.
They are the ink stamps, not postage stamps.
Wonderful choice and so old.
Emily didn't buy anything as it turned out.
She sat downstairs and watched a performance.
I caught up with her watching the street performer by the huge big Roman column.
Headed walking towards Westminster Bridge to catch the River Cruise.
Decided to do that another day.
Went to Churchill's War rooms.
Big queue.
Decided to do that early tomorrow.
Walked St James Park to Buckingham Palace.
Now that is an amazing sight.
We approached by the front and saw the Queen Victoria statue first.
Took selfies and gazed.
Across the street to the front gates of Buckingham Palace.
Left Emily there taking it all in while I climbed up next to the Queen Victoria statue and said 'Hello' to The Mall.
"I'm back!"
I was crying.
Never really ever thought I'd get back here.
Wandered and gazed.
Love looking down The Mall.
We were bushed.
Decided to catch the tube at Victoria, straight back to Aldgate East and home.
Stopped at The Buckingham Palace Shop first though.
Just had to.
Bought pens and souvenirs.
Took amazing photos of 2 posters of pomp and ceremony.
Will add the photos to this.
Bear in mind, not actually seen live.
Then Tube.
Then home.
Great day.

Andrew Browning ...........what a sign....................PERFECT!!!!
Connie Oh they knew you were coming alright..............we rang ahead - lol. So glad they arranged for the soldiers to put the parade on, must put in a complaint though - they forget the streamers and party whistles for you and Emily...........lol So while the 2 of you are gallivanting around we're all back here in dreary Melbourne. They say the weather is due to pick up on the weekend, we may even hit the high teens if we're lucky........they say the rain will hold off. I won't hold my breath. Everyone here is going well, Andrew's misbehaving, Phyll's out of control and Simone, don't get me started on her..........Just kidding we're all fabulous and loving the virtual trip. Hey Flo's birthday's coming up, would you like us to hold off on the party so you can participate when you get back????????
M I bought sunnies. Needed them.
Ann Jackson Love the snaps Carolyn.......Annie
Andrew Browning Good morning, Time for more FUN !!!!Glad you’re in the lobby and not the “office” this time.Yep, I can relate to the oyster card experience……..Embankment and Covent Garden brings back memories, lovely places and fun. I like that you have changed things up and now collect keys, the key to London no less! Great to wander about with no tick tock of the clock and just enjoy being there. Everything is amazing and a “look at that” moment. River cruise to come and Churchill’s War rooms – a must see!!!!Hope you get to see a show whilst you are there. Lots of black cabs and big red buses everywhere, hop into a cab for the experience……………People, sights, sounds, excitement and wonder flooding your mind, good isn’t it? Great sign …….”THE ARCHES SHOPPING”
Daryl Another great day. Is Em handling the pace? Maybe she's setting the pace?Did you manage to get my Lion or are you leaving it till the last day so you won't have to lug it round everywhere? Hope they don't run out...
