...we both wake up tired - Piotr after having gone out alone and partied and me from incessant brutal music downstairs until 7am (outdoor NYE party and the hotel is right downtown) from which even closed windows and my 15th floor location didn't protect me...
...we have a nice breakfast after some searching through deserted streets (almost everything closed) and realize upon paying €30 for some coffees, sandwiches and cakes that Chile still is freaking pricey
...we pack our bags with Seba and set off in his car for the border with an intent to cross over to Argentina
...at the border after 3h drive I realize with horror that I had left my passport in Santiago. To add insult to injury before we can go and pick it up, we have to do some useless paperwork - we're at the border post and haven't left Chile yet (duh!) but the car already has left the Chilean customs area so there's a lot of hassle to get us back into the country we never actually left; aaah the joys of Latin America.
...anyway my passport debacle doesn't mean a thing when after some talks with border people we find out the road in Argentina is closed anyway due to landslides (unusual summer rains!)
...on his last legs Seba drives to Santiago at night and I do my best to keep him awake by talking to him (he won't let us take over)
