We were planning to get to the Viking Center early this morning but it took us far too long to get moving this morning, our first day without a long drive ahead of us, and it was almost lunchtime before we arrived and so we spent a few hours racing around the Viking settlement trying to squeeze in as many Viking activities as possible....
I think we all enjoyed this place more than we expected and it's always a good sign when the children are already asking if we can go back in a couple of years because "then the Viking harbour will be finished".... I can't decide what I enjoyed most but I think it was either the Viking engagement party with the fire washing and dancing or the Viking warrior training with the scary Viking goading Megan with the words, "Fight, you English coward!". Great fun, and I think we all learnt a few Viking facts today.
We cycled back via Ribe and climbed the Cathedral tower for a view out to the sea as we were all too worn out by our Viking day to actually cycle there and so headed back for another evening of barbecue, sun and playing at the campsite.
The boys are camping out tonight in Daniel's "2 man pop-up tent" whilst we have a girl's night in Bob....very strange and very quiet!
