After a long day yesterday it took us a while to get on the bikes and head into Copenhagen this afternoon. It wasn't quite as enjoyable a cycle as we hoped, following the main road into town (albeit on a cycle path) with not all drivers being as careful of the cycle lanes as they should but we eventually made it the 8km to the city and parked the bikes and headed off on foot through the rain to walk up the round tower and Observatory - the oldest functioning observatory in Europe - and try and see the views through the clouds. It wasn't particularly overwhelming as we couldn't see much so we came down the spiral walkway, past the privy that was probably used by Hans Christian Andersen and headed to Nyhavn for dinner - for the sky to suddenly clear and the sun to come out as we sat and enjoyed the picturesque waterfront and we watched the world go by.
Having given up on any kind of children's bedtime now R, M & D headed off for an evening visit to visit the only Guiness World Record museum in Europe and dreamt up obscure records that they could try and break before we set off again on the bikes for a much more pleasant cycle home.
