Tuesday July 3 (back to Kerrera)Woke to a peaceful morning with the sound of wading birds calling from the banks of our anchorage. Several boats left during the morning, while we awaited the tide to take us north, back to Oban/Kerrera. We had discovered that the rail strike planned in Scotland for Friday was still highly probable, so sadly it was best to book Cath's passage home to Deal for Thursday. Accordingly we weighed anchor and set off after lunch back up the Sound of Kerrera to Oban Marina once more. We sailed round a magnificent square rigger, the Lord of the Isles, at anchor in Ardentraive Bay, and tied up close to where we had been last week. Cath went on the 1600 ferry to Oban to book her rail tickets, while I cleaned up the anchor and the muddy/rusty mess it had made on our foredeck. We spent a quiet evening with steak pies and a DVD on the laptop, and retired knowing that tomorrow would be our last day together until the end of the month. Boo!
