After seeing David and Mark off in Oban, now we were two!. We left Kerrera for the last time after lunch in strong and gusty winds and a rough quartering sea. With Cath on the helm we motored up the Firth of Lorne, through the Sound of Shuna, and into Loch Linnhe. The Corran Narrows made an interesting passage, the current taking us through at 7.5k, narrowly(!) avoiding the ferry! We called up the entry lock for the Caledonian Canal at Corpach, and were told to wait on the pontoon for the morning opening. We had splendid views of Ben Nevis as we berthed, and did some routine boat-housekeeping, including deflating and stowing the dinghy, which we had towed or carried on the transom for many miles now. We were joined on the rather decrepit and ricketty pontoon by a Dutch boat manned by two delightful couples, who invited us aboard for a few glasses of wine. We were grateful to receive their invitation to 'buddy-up' with them for the transit through the Cale, which they had done many times before.
