Even just arriving in the airport you can see how different Thailand is from India! We're not used to everything being so modern!! It was about 6 in the morning when we left the airport and even the taxi journey was a completely different experience. No horns and people stick to the lanes and the roads are smooth- such a luxury!! When we got near to the khao San road we literally had a wonder around and after looking at a couple of places found a nice guest house. We had some breakfast and then had a much needed nap! It's so ridiculously hot here, that even in dire need of sleep it was hard to get to sleep!! After a rest we thought we'd go to a mall again because it wasn't much effort. It is basically a collection of shops selling everything fake (some were actually pretty decent rip offs) and lots of market stall selling all sorts of souvenirs. We had some lunch (me and Emily shared some amazing Thai food) and then went to see 'we bought a zoo' at the cinema (not exactly the most cultural day :P ) then after dinner we headed to the Khao San road for some drinks. When we got back to the hotel, I was completely knackered but woke up continuously in the night because it was so stupidly hot- I've never been so greatful for not having hot water!! Then after breakfast we went to the Grand Palace which was really good. I liked looking at the forts and temples in India but definitely prefer it here, everything just looks amazing! Then we went to Wat Pho to see the reclining Buddha which is insanely massive! We then got a little boat to see another temple, but didn't actually have a proper look because we were short on time. We had some lunch and then went back to the hotel, and Emily and mcall went to visit their friends who live in Bangkok. Me, Si and Gaz then had a bit of a wonder and then went to an internet cafe, where we encountered a little boy, eating a packaged sausage and actually saying "nam nam nam". Actually hilarious! For dinner I had pad Thai which was absolutely amazing!! The next morning we decided we'd lie in but ended up sleeping much longer than we expected. By the time we we out looking for somewhere to go for breakfast we found Emily and Emily on their way back! We all went for food together and then got a tuktuk to Jim thompspns house- an American guy who made Thai silk popular again but then disappeared and no one knows why. We then got the sky train to the weekend market and it was absolutely massive!! Ridiculously huge! We had some lunch then wondered round- thy sell EVERYTHING! When we finally found our way out of the market we got the sky train to go to the flying chicken for dinner. If you order a flying chicken they set your chicken on fire it and then one guy sort of catapults it and another guy is on a unicycle with a helmet with a spike on and catches it. They don't do the unicycle all the time but it was still pretty good.
