So after a horribly early wake up we headed over to the LRT to take the metro one stop to a place where we could get the bus to the airport. The most stupidly laid out airport ive ever been to. We had a short flight to Bali, but when we came in to land, I was sat near the aisle and all I could see when we were super low was sea! Which was a tad worrying, but it's just that the runway stretches out to the sea. After getting our visas we got a taxi to our hotel in kuta. The people who work there were so lovely!! We had a bit of a chill and then headed for a wonder. Turned into a bit of a long wonder, but we found the main road, how to get to the beach etc. on the way back I got some food. They have lots of cool shops that have a selection of food- noodles, rice, chicken, fish, some peanutty thing etc and you get a selection of it and it's super cheap and so yummy!! The next day I headed to te beach. It was so hot!! Even with factor 50 (and I did reapply!!) I got the worlds worst sunburn- especially on my stomach!! So no bikini wearing for a while!! I think I was in the sun for a bit too long because I was feeling a bit crappy, but a really nice local looked after me which was very sweet!! On the way back to the hotel, I thought I treat myself to a magnum- there much cheaper and thy have so many more cool flavours here! Like choc and strawberry, chocolate truffle, choc cappuccino and chocolate brownie!! I went back to the hotel and later we went towards the main road so em could see the beach. We went to the hard rock cafe for a drink and then got a bit lost but found a nice restaurant on the way home, and I had some traditional Indonesian food. The next day we had a bit of a lazy day. We had a late breakfast and then spent the morning reading. Then we went for a walk to grab some lunch (we got a tad lost again!) that afternoon I did a bit of skyping and then that evening we had dinner at the hotel. The next day we got up a bit earlier, and headed to the beach for a few hours. We then had some lunch, and I had a pretty chilled afternoon. I went to meet Emily later that evening, but the traffic was horrendous and it took over an hour!! But I did get to go on the back of a motorbike for the grand total o about two minutes when the taxi couldn't park outside the hotel. Wed planned on meeting Matt that evening but because of the stupid traffic we got back to late :( we went back to the main road and found a nice place for dinner with some good live music :) the next day we got up early and were supposed to be getting the 9am bus to ubud. It was full so we had to get the 11am one instead. Matt had recommended a place to stay in ubud so we headed there, but made the mistake of thinking it was within walking distance with our bags :/ it was really nice when we got there. It includes breakfast and there was a pool. The road it's on is also really cool because all the paving stones have got engravings in from people who have visited before :) we found a nice bakery for lunch and then skyped Gaz which was really good :) that evening we went to see a traditional Balinese dance show, which was pretty good, just a bit samey for all the different dances! The next day we had banana pancakes for breakfast! :) we spent the morning by the pool, the weather was lush and we had it all to ourselves :) we were starving when we went for lunch and I had an ice coffee and roast beef sandwich!! That afternoon we went to the monkey forest which was really good. There's basically loads of monkeys running around and you can buy bananas to fee them if you want. One even jumped on my lap when Emily was about to take a photo! Some of them were running up people's arms to get bananas, and there were lots of very cute baby monkeys too! We had dinner at a really nice restaurant- I had pumpkin ravioli with pesto sauce and em had a very yummy looking stake! We even pushed the boat out and had a brownie and ice cream dessert :) then we headed to a bar for a few drinks and some live music :) the next day, after having French toast for breakfast, we spent the morning by the pool again. We went to the same restaurant as last night, hoping to get eggs benedict, but there were out of salmon!! 3 we then had a look around the 'palace' which was pretty small but very balinese :) we went and had a look around the market, which was massive!! I got a scarf and some sunglasses (after I somehow managed to break another pair!!) that evening after dinner we went to the same bar as last night again, and the barman showed us some very cool card tricks! The next day we had an early start to get the bus to Padangbai. It was a pretty short journey and when we got there we found a nice and cheap hotel. After dumping our bags we went for lunch and then went to find the beach. It was pretty unsuccessful and someone recommended we go to blue lagoon. After a MASSIVE trek and lots of hills, we got there, only to find it was really only good for snorkelling :/ so we headed back to the hotel and chilled out before dinner. The next day we decided to get a taxi to a better beach. We ended up having to get a motor bike taxi (which was insanely scary but very fun :) ) you had I walk through a foresty bit to get to the beach, but it was worth it. It wasn't too busy and it was amazing!! We spent the day on the beach and then got a motorbike taxi back to the hotel. We went for dinner and then got a magnum on the way home, before spending the evening talking to rach :) the next day we got the bus back to kuta and then got a taxi to seminyak. We'd decided to treat ourselves to a nice hotel for our last night. We couldn't check in straight away so we went and got some lunch and then wondered down to the beach. When we got back to the hotel, we could check in. We found out that we had got a free upgrade to a suit!! It was amazing!! There was a kitchen, living room area, 2 massive TVs, speakers, a bath!! And a super comfy bed!! Wed planned on going out that afternoon but ended up staying in the room and watching DVDs! That evening we went for dinner, but ended up walking for aaaaaages until we found somewhere!! We headed back to the hotel for a very comfy evening! For our final morning in Bali, we got up early and had breakfast (in the bit where you can only eat if your staying in a suite- get us ;) ) breakfast was amazing, there was even smoked salmon!! :) we then went and lounged by the pool for a few hours before getting a taxi to the airport.
