Another gorgeous day. Another day without sunscreen seriously what is with the sun in Australia! There are two older Spanish men having a passionate discussion two picnic tables up from me in this park. And two Columbian gentlemen having their lunch beside me. There are other languages everywhere - Madrid is a busy place.

So World Youth Day (or week rather) gets a bit crazier as the pope is scheduled to arrive today. It's kinda hot, we are sitting on the street (which is blocked off) not sure I'll even make it till the pope's arrival. I'm not exactly super excited any way. Not a good catholic I know but it's a bit bloody warm! So I skipped out early - cold shower was better than long distance pope viewing! See him on Saturday!

So Madrid is packed full of people from all over the world. It's hard to work out what to do. There are a lot of activities on but the instructions aren't that clear! The weather is very warm, the shopping is good and I'm being a bit lazy! Last night James and Pete were in town so we went out for a drink for Jimmy's birthday at Andy's Tex Mex Grill. So it 8pm and we've just had dinner. I got a couple of hours sleep on the plane but we a lot of us decided to push through the night as we didn't finish up til 9pm last night, had to pack and be ready to leave at 1.30am. So I'm tired. I'm in Madrid - it's a beautiful city and with WYD there's a vibrance to the city. People every where with French flags, Brazilian ones, Italian, Mexican, Polish, Canadian and today is only the beginning. So far I've only eaten one ...
